The conservatory area offered a pleasant spot for cream tea before heading into the spa, making for a relaxing start. The evening dining experience at Lascelles had some standout starters and well-priced wines, providing a good end to the day.
Unfortunately, cleanliness was a major issue in the Standard Double Room I checked into. The bathroom showed signs of mold, peeling wallpaper, and the room itself wasn't vacuumed properly before I arrived. I found dead insects scattered about. the TV promised in the room was old and ineffective, and I faced a lot of noise from the spa area during my treatments, detracting from the experience. The delayed dinner service meant that my main arrived cold and required sending back for heating. Finally, the changing room in the spa was less than impressive, with hair and wet floors that felt neglected during my visit.

Well maintained garden, extensive spa facilities, convenient transport links
The shower pressure left much to be desired!!! The décor in the rooms is outdated and definitely needs a facelift!!! The lack of amenities like shower gel felt disappointing for a hotel of this standing!!!

Spa and dining experience were highlights!
We had an enjoyable stay with fantastic spa facilities that included a soothing swimming pool and a well-equipped gym. The food at The Fat Abbot exceeded our expectations, with the lamb and mint pie being a standout dish. I found the room a bit dated, which could use some updating to match the rest of the property’s charm.

The spa offered amazing treatments using top brands, and my son loved the indoor pool. The overall cleanliness was outstanding, making it a pleasant family stay. The breakfast spread was hearty and delicious, giving us a great start to our day!
In my wife’s opinion, the check-in process was chaotic and frustrating for families. We also faced a bit of noise from celebrations that disrupted our downtime.

Couple's weekend retreat, mostly great!
Had a lovely cream tea on arrival! The meal at the gastropub was excellent, we even went back for more instead of trying another place.
It wasn’t cheap. but still acceptable.

The location is a significant highlight, offering quick access to York via a cheap bus service right outside. The friendly staff and delicious food enhance the experience, particularly the traditional dishes. While the room was comfortable, the search for availability at the spa could be improved.

Had an awesome time here, especially enjoyed the spa treatments and the dinner we had in the restaurant. The wellness area is lovely, with great options for relaxing in the sauna and jacuzzi. The room could've been a bit tidier, but that didn't take away from our fun – definitely a spot I'd recommend for a chill getaway! 😊

Great stay with awesome service!
We had a nice evening here, but a bit bumpy at first. Our room wasn't cleaned when we arrived, and we had to wait a bit for food. But the staff got us sorted out quickly with a new room and free drinks, that was cool. The in-room breakfast was a good way to start the day!

I stayed one night in a standard double room. It was super cozy, but the decor felt a bit dated. The room was on the small side, and it got really warm without air conditioning. WiFi was spotty, which made my work difficult. But honestly, the bed was comfy, and I slept well despite the small space. it was okay, just needs some updates and better connectivity!

This place suits me perfectly with its indoor swimming pool, free wi-fi in rooms, and attentive staff. I remember how they helped me find transport during my first stay. I highly recommend a relaxing massage and the jacuzzi. I'm coming back for Easter!
